Kohli expressed his disappointment in a post-match interview, stating that his team deserved to lose. The frustration was evident on the field as well, with a viral video showing Kohli sulking after KKR’s Jason Roy smashed left-arm spinning all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed for four sixes in one over.
KKR’s opener, Roy, set the pace for Nitish Rana’s side, hammering 56 off 29 balls in an opening partnership of 83 runs with Narayan Jagadeesan. Kohli acknowledged that his team’s fielding was not up to par, with two dropped catches costing them 25-30 runs.
Despite the loss, Kohli remained professional in his assessment of the match. He recognized the areas where his team fell short and acknowledged KKR’s strong performance. Moving forward, RCB will need to regroup and work on their fielding if they hope to bounce back in the IPL 2023 season.
